With 132,000 tiles, Scarecrow Video has the largest film and television collection in the world operating more like a museum than a traditional video store. The goal of this project is a rebrand and reimagining of the Scarecrow site to make it more accessible to contemporary audiences and to convey Scarecrow’s value as a mission-driven, nonprofit organization.

The site needs to serve two primary functions—soliciting donations and convincing movie fans who may be more accustomed to the convenience of streaming, of the incredible value and breadth this unique collection.

The site architecture references nonprofit institutional sites for museums, libraries, and music organizations.
The layout and experience features a streamlined navigation and mobile-first design.

The look and feel of the site leans into both classic films and its Seattle location by drawing inspiration from film noir aesthetics, classic movie posters by Saul Bass and the work of Seattle poster designers such as Jeff Kleinsmith.
